Welcome to Robert Burns
Masonic Lodge No. 97
Robert Burns Masonic Lodge is located in Burns Oregon, at the western edge of eastern Oregon, about, half way between Bend and Ontario on U.S. Hwy 20. Our lodge has a unique heritage related to this high desert country and the American pioneering spirit. Our members come from a wide range of this areas varied nature of ranching, cattle & high desert timber.
Located in Harney County, Burns is part of the historic high desert, west of the Cascades, flanked by the mighty Steens Mountains, where deer and antelope roam. This is true frontier country with great expanses of wide-open spaces, where cattle and ranching play a major part of everyone’s lives. Founded in 1890 by real pioneers of the old west, Robert Burns, the legendary Scottish poet is the name sake of the city of Burns & our Lodge, http://www.worldburnsclub.com/expert/burns_freemason.htm
We are also, home of the famous “Malheur Cave Masonic Event”, Where every year in late August, for the last 70 years, a Fellowcraft Mason has been raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason in the Malheur Cave. This event is held in a lava tube cave (Malheur Cave) on property owned by the Lodge, about 56 miles east of Burns. See last years 2009 Malheur Cave Event Photo Gallery.
We encourage you to visit us, especially for our Malheur Cave Event, where good fellowship, good victuals and a strong spirit of masonry are a fundamental nature of the lodge.
